The Hardware
The Epson KDS has a handful of components, some of which are required and some which are optional.
The three core components are:
- TM-U220i: The intelligent Epson impact printer.
- KP1700D: Logic Controls bump bar, legend D. For use with TM-U220i or KD-IB01 for user input.
- Widescreen VGA Monitor: Any monitor which supports 1680x1050 resolution with VGA interface.
Additionally you may use the following components:
- KD-IB01 Expansion Box: A digital receipt printer which acts as a brain. Use this in a multi station setup.
- Elo 2202L Touchscreen Monitor: A 22" touchscreen monitor to use with TM-U220i or KD-IB01 in place of the KP1700 bump bar.
Note: The TM-U220i and KD-IB01 components require ethernet/network connections to the CAKE POS network.

Single-Station
If you're just using a single Epson KDS, the configuration process is less complex. You will just need the three core components.
The U220i will connect to the VGA monitor and the KP1700 bump bar via VGA and USB inputs. Optionally, an Elo touchscreen monitor may be used in place of the KP1700 bump bar.

Multi-Station
When the KDS is used in a multi-station type of deployment, the U220i will not drive a display. Instead it uses its processing resources to drive the KD-IB01 expansion boxes. Up to nine expansion boxes may be used.

KDS Mounting Hardware
A KDS system needs to be properly mounted in your kitchen to save space and keep the electronic components protected. CAKE has had great experience in beta testing with Practical Quality Systems (PQS) (https://www.practicalqualitysystems.com/ ). Everything conforms to VESA mounting standards (like most monitors) for easy assembly.
Recommended PQS Hardware:
At this time CAKE does not sell PQS hardware. Please order through PQS directly. There are also plenty of VESA compatible mounting solutions from other vendors. Keep in mind you will have to support up to 20 pounds of equipment.
