The Sales: Overview Report provides a concise summary of your sales within the specified date range, offering valuable insights into your restaurants performance. Within this report, you'll find various key metrics and indicators to help you understand your sales data more effectively.

 

Features:

  • Visual Representation: Refunds and Discounts & Comps are highlighted in red to signify negative values, making them easily identifiable.
  • Detailed Insights: You can select Discounts & Comps, Tax, and Tips to navigate to respective detailed reports, allowing for a deeper analysis of your sales information.
  • Access to Formulas: Need to understand the calculations behind the numbers? You can view the formulas for this report at any time by clicking on the information icon at the top of the report or by hovering over any present information icons within the report.

 

Key Metrics and Definitions: 

Let's explore the key metrics included in the Sales: Overview Report:

  • Item Sales: The total revenue generated from the sale of items before any discounts or refunds are applied.
  • Discounts & Comps: The cumulative value of percentage (%) or dollar discounts, free items, or rewards provided to customers.
  • Refunds: The total amount refunded to customers.
  • Net Sales: Calculated as the difference between Item Sales and the sum of Discounts & Comps and Refunds (Item Sales -(Discounts & Comps + Refunds)).
  • Tax: The amount of sales tax collected on purchases.
  • Gross Sales: The total revenue generated before deducting taxes and fees, calculated by adding Net Sales and Tax.
  • Tips: The sum of tips received from customers, including any service charges.
  • Fee: The total amount of fees; this includes Extra Fee, Card Fee, CAKE OLO Fee, and other applicable fees.
  • Total Sales: The overall revenue generated, calculated as the sum of Gross Sales, Tips, and Fee.
  • Avg ($) / Order: The average revenue generated per order, calculated by dividing Net Sales by the Total Order Count.
  • Avg ($) / Guest: The average revenue generated per guest, calculated by dividing Net Sales by the Total Guest Count.
  • Avg Guest (#) / Order: The average number of guests per order, calculated by dividing the Total Guest Count by the Total Order Count.
  • Total Order Count: The total number of orders processed, excluding refunds.
  • Total Guest Count: The cumulative number of guests served. In cases where the guest count is unavailable, a default count of 1 is applied.

Sales: Payment Type

The Sales: Payment Type Report offers a detailed breakdown of payments received, categorized by different payment types. It allows you to gain insights into your sales transactions based on how payments were made.

 

Features:

  • Further Breakdown: Select the arrow to the left of each payment type to access a detailed breakdown, providing you with additional insights into specific payment methods.


Payment Types:

Payments are grouped into the following categories:

  • Credit Card (Card-Present): Payments made with physical credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and others.
  • Credit Card (Card Not-Present): Payments made without the physical presence of the credit card, such as keyed-in card information, online orders, and transactions through third-party integrations like Doordash and UberEats.
  • Non-Card: Payments made using methods other than credit cards, such as cash, third-party payment platforms, and checks.

 

Data Table:

The data table in the Sales: Payment Type Report consists of the following columns:

  • Name: Payment type grouped under Credit Card (Card Present/Not Present) and Non-Card.
  • Quantity (#): Total count of transactions made in each payment type.
  • Total Sales ($): Total payment collected within the date range.

  • Customized Order Types: This report includes any specialized order types that have been created on your POS system.

  • Avg Ticket ($): Average revenue generated per order type, calculated as Total Net Sales divided by Quantity.
  • Total Net Sales ($): Total net sales generated by each order type.

  • Quantity (#): Total number of orders processed by each employee.
  • Avg ($) / Order: Average revenue generated per order by each employee, calculated as Total Net Sales ($) divided by Quantity.
  • Guest (#): Total number of guests served by each employee.
  • Avg ($) / Guest: Average revenue generated per guest served by each employee, calculated as Total Net Sales ($) divided by Guest.
  • Avg Guest (#) / Order: Average number of guests served per order by each employee, calculated as Guest divided by Quantity.
  • Total Net Sales ($): Total sales generated by each employee within the selected date range.
  • Gift Card Sales (#): Total number of gift card sales processed by each employee.
  • Gift Card Sales ($): Total revenue generated from gift card sales processed by each employee.
